Sodium and Potassium Adducts

In electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI), it is not uncommon for many biomolecules to form adducts with residual sodium and potassium ions in the mobile phase.

In BioMS Reviewer, we can choose to identify ions in the deconvoluted mass spectra that appear to be associated with the target compound with either one sodium or one potassium ion

In the toolbar at the top of the application, ticking the Sodium or Potassium adduct checkboxes will cause the data set to be reprocessed including the relevant adducts.

If deconvoluted biomolecule masses match the target mass with the associated adduct mass within the mass tolerance selected, the mass will be flagged with the appropriate symbol for the adduct.
