Plate View Details

Overview

The plate view shows an overview of the entire dataset. Each injection is represented by a circle on a rack format that represents the sample holder. The dimensions of the displayed rack are calculated using the sample locations for each of the datafiles loaded. The software calculates the most likely format for the samples. A drop-down above the plate allow the display of the data in higher density rack formats.

Samples

When data are loaded, BioMS Reviewer compares the target mass with the masses for each biomolecule identified in the deconvolution processing. If one of the biomolecule masses the target compound, within a user-defined tolerance, this biomolecule is marked as the target and the upper half of the circle is coloured green.

If, in basic mode adducts are selected, the review of each injection uses the mass difference for sodium adducts (22Da) or potassium adducts (38Da) and the user-defined tolerance is used to identify biomolecule masses that could tentatively be assigned as artefacts of the MS ionisation process and can therefore be directly attributed to the target molecule.

If the target mass can only be matched using a biomolecule mass as an adduct, the upper half of the circle is coloured orange.

The deconvolution process calculates a height of each deconvoluted MS peak. The review of each well expresses the sum of the heights of peaks that can be attributed to the target mass as a percentage of the total of the peak heights. This estimated percentage purity is compared to the user-defined purity threshold. If the calculated purity matches or exceed the threshold, the lower half of the circle is coloured green, otherwise the lower half of the circle is coloured red.

This information is displayed in the collapsible legend to the left of the plate view.

Pass or fail

At the centre of each circle is an indicator of whether the well is considered to pass or fail the user’s criteria. These indicators are added by the user, and consist of a tick/check mark to indicate a pass or a cross to indicate a fail. More information can be found in the Pass or Fail section.
